The golf handicap ?
Each golfer lay out of a handicap according to his play level.
This handicap correspond to a golfer grading system.
This handicap departure point is the « par », a golfer whom is able to play the « par » in every other has a handicap zero.
It is in addition the symbolic barrier between a pro player and a golfer beginner.
Golfer whom begins profit of his handicap of 36 (36 blow above the par authorized in an 8 course hole)
The amator golfer grading scale is composed of 5 categories :
1st category from 0 until 4.4
2nd category from 4.5 until 11.4
3rd category from 11 .5 until 18.4
4th category from 18.5 until 26.4
5th category from 26.5 until 53.5

Play formulas
Golfer gets several play formulas in amator competition.
It all depends of the compretition basis : play in team or individual play
if you are playing in team there is some originals formulas : match play, scramble, 2 balls better ball…
on the other hand if you are playing alone the two most common formulas are the strokeplay and the stableford.
Calculate the golf handicap ?
According to the competition play mode the calcul is not the same.
On a stroke play competition, you must add all the blow that you realized on course. The total amount will enable you according to the course to define an index.
For the stableford, the objective is to convert the realized blows in points. The more you are making points the more you better play (in opposite to stroke play)
